Store Liquidation: Home Depot Expo Design Center

You may have heard last month that Home Depot is in the process of closing its 34 upscale Expo Design Center retail stores. Over the weekend I made a visit to the location in North Dallas. We went in looking for an area rug and left with a new BBQ grill!

As my wife and I entered the store we saw signs that most everything in the store was 20% off or more. Always a skeptic of store liquidation “sales”, I wasn’t getting my hopes up. But then we walked past the BBQ grills and I saw the big sign stating 20% off all grills! I’d been researching gas grills for a month or two, but really wasn’t planning on purchasing until at least April. And then I saw the Weber Genesis S-320 for only $749!! Weber Genesis grills rarely if ever go on sale – and this was nearly $200 off retail – so I wasn’t about to let this opportunity pass. The grill I walked out with was one of only two left on the floor. In speaking with the sales associate, I learned the Dallas location would likely be open for another 3-4 weeks max.

If you’ve got an Expo Design Center in your hometown, I highly recommend you go browse the aisles one last time. Oh, and if you’re in the market for the one of those monster Lynx grills, they were selling one for a mere $6800 – that’s a savings of about $1700!
