The Rise in Coupon Cutting

Just saw an interesting article on the CNN homepage about coupon clipping.

Here are the highlights:

  • Shoppers are turning to coupons for deals on luxuries and necessities
  • Entertainment.com users print 63 percent more coupons for casual dining in 2008
  • Use of coupons for services such as oil changes, dry-cleaning up 198 percent
  • “Couponing” at big box retailers up 14 percent, even as restrictions increase

Are you finally opening those blue Valupak envelopes?

But with gas prices soaring earlier this year and an economy now in the dumps, coupons are once again an appealing option for stretching a household budget.

If you’re not ready to break out the scissors, here are 7 other money-saving tips to consider.
